Eightfold Coffee
What is that? In my picture... is it truly... milk? In my espresso? Yes! I finally admit, Princesspresso does truly love a good cortado. And what better place to have one than Eightfold Coffee in Echo Park? It has become quite the joke in that area about how many specialty coffee shops have popped up as of recent (i.e. Dinette, Woodcat, Blue Bottle, Alfred Coffee). The same goes for any vintage clothing store that also sells minimalist jewelry and hand-printed birthday cards ($9.00). But who am I to complain? The more the merrier!
The airy, perfectly lit space of Eightfold Coffee is always my go-to weekend spot (and what better way to relax than the Eightfold Way). Eightfold serves Heart Coffee (from the great coffee city of Portland!), and does a pretty good job at it. Although I'm not the biggest fan of their espresso (a tad bitter and too fruity), I believe their cortados are quite delicious. And I'm an even bigger fan that they are currently host to & Pens Press - the pop-up bookstore (formerly real bookstore a few doors down from Cognoscenti Coffee in Culver City) that seems to always have the best selections of indie-weird books.
So, if you are looking for a cup of joe and a good book, head to Eightfold! (or even more LA) If you are looking for just a cortado and an art zine, Eightfold Coffee is your place!
Recommend: "Every Person in New York" by Jason Polan is right on the table when you walk in. He is one of my favorite sketch/portrait/anything artists around.
Note: Not much food, but Eightfold is a great place to sit back and read or work (free wifi!).
