BrewWell (CLOSED)

As I was driving to Karaoke on this past Friday night in Korea Town (naturally), it made me wonder. Where were the great Korea Town coffee shops? The next morning, my prayers happened to be answered. BrewWell Coffee Shop was having their grand opening the at 8th and Oxford, carrying both Handsome Coffee and Coava Coffee. When given the option in their quaint, beautiful, naturally-lit coffee shop, I just had to have both the single origin and Handsome espresso. As an opening day perk, I also got a delicious free watermelon popsicle and everyone who worked there (lots of girl baristas-- finally!) were extremely helpful and friendly. And to top it all off, the espressos came in beautiful, unique ceramic cups that had horn-like handles and came alongside sparkling water, all on a delicate wooden tray. My sister had their bacon scone and enjoyed it. Although neither espresso was extremely flavorful--the Coava Single Origin from Brazil and the Handsome "Adventure" espresso--I  really commended their efforts. Currently (August 2014), BrewWell has been serving some awesome Stereo espresso from Heart Roasters. Overall, a great addition to Korea Town that will hopefully help the growing coffee scene in the area.

Updates: I have gone back to BrewWell so many times, which is rare for me to say about a coffee shop. Every single time I've been back the baristas have been extremely friendly and take their time to make a great espresso. I absolutely love this place! They also began to carry Heart Coffee as well, and I'm a big fan! Keep up the great coffee and vibes, BrewWell.

Recommend: Try their toast and jam if you are in need of some buttery warm goodness! Also, if you are not into straight espresso, they had some very creative drinks on the menu.

Note: This is a great location to study-- it's not too busy, and has great tables and chairs.

Price: $$

Vibe: Koreatown, chill

Espresso Rating: 8/10 (They've totally improved every time I've been back!)

Overall Rating: 9/10

Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-6pm, Fri-Sat 8am-10pm, Sun 11am-5pm
