There are very few places that will leave you wanting to pick up surfing, start riding a motorcycle, and serve you great coffee all in one. Deus Ex Machina is one of those rare places. Their Venice location, named "Emporium of Post-Modern Activities" sells customized motorcycles, surf boards, clothing for both activities, and has a coffee bar. This coffee bar at Deus serves Handsome Coffee and (in my opinion) typically pulls better shots than at the actual Handsome Coffee Roasters (not to mention the people serving you are good-looking, surfer/actor baristas). Overall, great hangout, good vibe, excellent espresso.

Recommend: Browse around the shop! So cool.

Note: This also seems like a cool place to study. I think they might have WiFi but I have never inquired.  Also a great place to go before dinner on Abbot Kinney.
